Owners/Innkeepers Jim and Julie, both natives of Southern California, meet while working for Coco’s Family Restaurants almost 20 years ago and have been married for 17 years. After working in restaurant management for 10 years, they both dreamed of finding a new path, something in life they could do side by side, working hard together as if every day were their last. “Wouldn’t a B&B be cool?” Julie remembers asking, “Maybe in Idaho, Alaska, anywhere!” It was Jim’s parents who encouraged them to explore Julian as a possibility, at least find out if it was the kind of life style that would support what they had hoped for. Within months of their initial search, they found Villa Idaleen, a Bed & Breakfast home in the townsite of Julian that had been for sale for over 5 years, just waiting for them to come along. Jim and Julie took a leap of faith, quit their jobs, and bought the property back in 1995. Since then, they have built Eaglenest Bed & Breakfast into one of the most incredible and successful B&B’s in the town of Julian. In 2008, wanting to provide a family and pet friendly establishment, they embarked on a new venture, An Eagle in the Pines Cabin, a fabulous mountain home that has become the perfect compliment to the B&B. Offering the ultimate in privacy and peace, an Eagle in the Pines is just 1 mile from the town of Julian and is perfect for a couple, groups and families. They knew this was the next step in their successful journey together. “We were both raised on the beaches of Southern California, but were faithful that the mountain community of Julian was to be our home. Our goal was to create a Bed & Breakfast home in Julian for guests to enjoy the utmost in comfort and care. We are even more thrilled now with the addition of an Eagle in the Pines. With an overwhelming amount of work in front of us each day, we don’t know what else could compare to the lifestyle we get to lead together, every day.
